Blood Transfusion Process
Blood Transfusion Process

Transfusion of blood components is a complex process involving multiple departments, staff members, and steps. Accurate recipient identification at blood collection and administration is essential to the safety of the total blood transfusion process. Facilities may consider risk reduction strategies that address inappropriate prescribing practices, correct patient identification of the transfusion candidate, and clear lines of responsibility.
